I almost don’t want to reduce this film, especially as the ending is so emotionally complicated but here goes…
It’s the story of how Barbra Streisand can act and sing like a champ, through ten inches of 1960s eye-liner and back-combing, to tell the story of Fanny Brice’s rise to fame in the Zeigfeld Follies in the 1920s, and her relationship with a man who ultimately can’t handle her success (but like I said, it’s not really that simple…WATCH IT…the ending made me cry).
